12 dvarapala statues discovered in Angkor
Archaeologists in Cambodia discover ancient statues in Angkor complex
Archaeologists have recently discovered about a dozen sandstone statues in Angkor, an archaeological site in Cambodia which was once the former center of the Khmer Empire.
The Apsara National Authority, responsible for protecting the Angkor Archaeological Park, says the figures are so-called gatekeepers.
They were excavated at the north gate of Angkor Thom, the former capital of Angkor.
